Put FDI norms’ easing on hold, demands Swadeshi Jagran Manch

RSS affiliate demands a ‘white paper

After the Congress raised objections to the Narendra Modi government’s decision to further liberalise FDI norms in a big way, the Swadeshi Jagran Manch, that is affiliated to the RSS, has also come out into the open against the move. The SJM had earlier thrown its weight against the government’s move to push for amendments to the Land Acquisition Bill.

CENTRE’S FDI DECISION MADE IN HASTE, SAYS SWADESHI JAGRAN MANCH

After BMS, another RSS affiliate Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM) on Sunday came down heavily on the Centre’s recent FDI decision. Terming the move as “done in haste”, the SJM urged the Centre to put on hold its decision and sought a whitepaper detailing its benefits, drawbacks and impacts in each sector. It also said that “Make in India” initiatives should be more of ‘Made by India’.

“SJM believes that the present decision of the Government to ease FDI norms for major sectors of the economy has been taken in a hurried manner and without going into the pros and cons of the decision.

Days after Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, an affiliate of RSS, warned the government of agitation if its decision to ease FDI norms in 15 key sectors was not rolled back, the Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM), also linked to RSS, expressed anguish over the Centre’s move. “SJM believes that the decision has been taken without going into its pros and cons. SJM demands these decisions be put on hold and a commission constituted taking all stakeholders on board to estimate loss to the economy,” Ashwani Mahajan, All India Co-Convener of the Manch, said.
