The way in which West Bengal Government acted in most irresponsible manner and subsequently withdrawal of Tata Motor's Nano project from Singur, West Bengal led to a wave of disappointment all around the nation. The way in which land was forcibly acquired from the farmers, anti farmer attitude of West Bengal government was fully exposed. Later chain of events in which Tata Motors was made to withdraw from Singur further exposed the anti Swadeshi Industry attitude of the West Bengal Government.

We all know that India lives in its villages, we can not imagine a village without agriculture. It is now clear that the agriculture is in deep crisis. Farmer is either committing suicide, or leaving agriculture or is struggling on the street.

It is most unfortunate and deplorable that the Union Cabinet had approved the free trade part with the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) on July 24, inspite of serious concerns voiced by several ministerial colleagues including the Defence Minister A.K. Antony, Minister of state for Environment & Forests Jairam Ramesh, Minister of heavy industries and Public Enterprises Vilasrao Deshmukh.
