2.Economic Resurgence through Made by India, 3.

12th National Convention - Bhubaneswar (Odisha)

26, 27, 28 December 2014

Bring agriculture and rural food processing in to the ambit of MNREGA: SJM

12th National Meet of Swadeshi Jagaran Manch (SJM) concluded at KIIT campus in the capital city of Odisha with a call to the government to change the economic system in the country from present socialist model to one based on 'Dharma' and guided by 'Dharmic' codes.

The three day National Convention was held in Bhubaneshwar Odisha, from 25th-28th of December 2014. Inaugural session was addressed by several prominent people including Chief Guest Swami Pragyanand ji of Pragya Mission, Padam Vibhushan Sh. Raghunath Mahapatra, Sh. Anshuman Tewari, Editor India Today (Hindi) and National Convener of SJM Sh. Arun Ojha. Annada Shankar Pannigrahi conducted the stage. Pragya Mission Swami Pragyananda Maharaj inaugurated the meet by lightening the lamp and garlanding portrait of Mahatma Gandhi and Shahid Babu Genu. Speaking on the occasion, Swami Pragyanand Maharaj appealed the people of India to boycott foreign culture and products.

Over 1200 delegates from across the country participated in the National Meet.

SJM leaders expressed their concern over government’s open invitation to foreign companies in different sectors. They said that the globalization has adversely affected the Indian economy. Today debt on the country is nearly 70 percent of GDP, which makes the country one of the most indebted countries of the world, they added. According to the latest report of the government 52 percent of rural households are reeling under debt.

Speakers also pointed out, that foreign companies have already made inroads in agricultural sector in the name of contract farming, due to the policy of promoting foreign investment. The policy of allowing GM field trial is not only endangering our food security and bio diversity, these companies are also trying to take over Indian agriculture.
SJM demanded that agriculture and rural food processing industry must be brought in to the ambit of MNREGA and the funds of MNREGA be channelized to increase productivity which would increase farm productivity and cause employment opportunity for the masses. This would help government to make country self reliant, self dependent, and growth oriented with over all social economic revolution.

Anshuman Tewari in his speech forcefully pleaded free market economy. He tried to justify his argument by citing examples from history including Katho-Upanishad. He stressed that India has always been in favour of free market economy and countries like China that imposed restrictions on market remained backward for long time. Anshuman Tewari in his well researched speech gave several examples to support his viewpoint. His opinion was that temple based economy and progress contributed to the openness of markets in India. He stressed that market strengthened states in India and not the reverse was case. Extending this argument further Mr. Tewari said that politics in India has been controlled by ‘Dharna’ and Dharmic organisations were strengthened by Traders and Trade. Trade was not dependent on state support, he argued. He further added that from the moment trade, Market and entrepreneurship came under ‘state’ control India was pushed to poverty. East India Company was an example, he said. Expressing his views on FDI and FIIs, Anshuman Tewari pointed out the big businesses prefer FIIs to FDI as it is harmless to them. Anshuman Tewari believed that it was because of resistance to FDI in retail sector that e-commerce was captured by MNCs. FDI has flown into e-commerce,he added. This resulted in creation of low level employment like delivery boys only. He opined that challenges for Swadeshi Movement have undergone a sea change in last two decades. He also explained merger, acquisition and politics in auto, telecom and several other sectors of the economy. He stressed the need to encourage small entrepreneurs even if they fail in beginning. Terming threats from inside more serious then those emnating from outside,Anhuman Tewari stressed the need to have an open market with equal opportunity for all in India. He also pleaded integration of free economic thinking with ‘Dharama’ and politics saying the very basis of Indian philosophy was omission of wealth.

Sh. Arun Ojha ji in his address disagreed with the assertion of Anshuman Tewari that wealth was undermined in Indian philosophy. “Sapthasta Sangraha, Sahastrahasta Vikiraha” was the basis of our wealth generation, said Arun ji. He also quoted line of Maithlisharan Gupt’s poem & “Sarva Jana Hetay, Sarvajana Sukhana” to underline the importance of wealth creation. Arun ji opposed the idea of competition based on survival of fitest. This philosophy destroys weaker sections of society he pointed out. Indian idea on the contrary is the principle of co-operation and complimenting each other, he added. This maintains a balance and helps small grow big. Economy based on “Dharma” is universally applicable, Arun ji stressed.

Mr Arun Ojha claimed that the SJM has always stressed on the fiscal policy which will ensure real benefit and welfare of the people. Lamenting that the fiscal policies of India have often been modelled on western countries without taking the local conditions into consideration, he claimed that the initiatives like “Made by India” would ensure that India’s interests are protected. Arun ojha paid rich tributes to justice Krishna Ayer who passed away recently.

Dr. Tushar of Odisha Vyavsayee Sangh proposed a vote of thanks. He pleaded Swadeshi Model of economy for economic planning and mentioned dependence of public sector, private sector, agriculture and MSME. Dr. Tushar spoke in Oriya.

One of the important and noticeable features of the National Conference was meticulously prepared and conceived stage. It was prepared under the able guidance of Director of the department of Art and Sclupture of the University of KIIT, Adwait Gadnayak. He was the person who was the designer of first Swadeshi Mela.

On the backdrop painted with cow dung highlighting traditional trade routes, symbols of boats used in trade, Mangalyan and images of Bhagwan Jagannath along with Subhadra and Balram. It was a great ambiance that gave a impressive environment to discuss swadeshi issues.

Dr. Bhagwati Prakash Sharma, National co-convener, in his speech spoke about Made-by-India. Talking about so called economic reforms initiated by the government of Dr. Manmohan Singh, Bhagwati ji said that these reforms resulted in large scale closure of small scale units. UPA government converted into a field for international players. Our trade deficit continued to rise and continues to be around 150 bn US dollars. Our manufacturing units closed and were subsequently purchased by MNC’s. Shoe polish, refrigerators, cement, cold drinks, auto mobiles and telecom sectors were.

So the research papers produced by these scientists are biased in their favour. Dr. Tushar revealed that 680 genes of Rice have undergone change in this technology genes are made to go dormant the process is not controllable and we don’t know what effects it can have. In USA alone over 58 lakh people were affected by food products related illnesses, he added

This is being extended to whole of India 85% of laws protecting labour will be history soon. Govt claims that they are compelled to care for urban voters. Impact of rural voters is not be considered at all. He declared that if there is no change in govts working BMS will be forced to come on streets.

All India co-convenor Saroj Da defended govt saying that the governance deficit left behind by UPA regime is so huge that it will take some time to normalize the situation. He said that SJM is answerable to people of India, hence our future plan must be action oriented.

UP coming event
Some of the Programmes decided for next few months that were decided in the National convention are as follows:
1. Central working Committee Meet — 4-5 April 2015 at Central Office New Delhi.
2. National Council Meeting— 13-14 June 2015 at Vijaywada Andhra Pradesh.
3. Intensive Public Awareness Campaign on issues related to FDI, India Uninc, GM Foods, Land Acquisition Law, e-commerce & challenges from China.
4. Starting Swadeshi Study Circles throughout the country.

In his concluding remarks National convener Arun Ojha said that the year 2014 has been year of unprecedented changes for both our society and country. We, as a nation, earned a lot of respect globally. Successful completion of mission “Mangalyan” has established our credibility in the field of science also. Democratic process has put a new political set up in the leadership role indicating a new beginning. Ancient India, that remained at the receiving and for centuries, suddenly seems to have found a new energy, confidence and a lot pride in its capability. Relations with global powers including our close neighbours are improving fast. Security of the nation looks in safe hands. A new era has begun. Capability of new leadership is being accepted globally. Every nation is eager to enter into an expanded relationship with India. We welcome the new leadership and admire people’s prudence to reposition India as a global leader.

But problems faced by the nation are still waiting to be resolved. India has been engulfed by multi dimensional economic problems. MNC lead economic impearlism is spreading its tentacles in the country. Out territory may not be captured directly but our sources of wealth creation are being overtaken. Will India continue to be indirectly ruled by foreigners after six decades of political freedom, he asked? India has earned an image of a country hungry for FDI. India, we must remember cannot be developed with foreign funds. Government needs to make clear the role of foreign investment and technology in its Make-in-India policy, stressed Arun ji.

11th National Conference - Thiruvanthapuram (Kerala)

13, 14, 15 December 2013

Statement issued by SJM in its 11th National Conference in Thiruvananthapuram on increasing threats to Security of India

India is facing multifarious challenges on the security front both internal and external.Surrounded by hostile neighbors like trouble making Pakistan and unpredictable China, our borders are shrinking even after decades of gaining independence. Our influence on politically unstable Nepal, growingly extremist Bangladesh, civil war ravaged Sri Lanka and even in Tiny Maldives is progressively weaving.

Forces detrimental to India including countries with impearlist and expansionist designs are active both inside India and on its borders from everyside. Threats from sea route are also at an all-time high.

New disruptive technologies such as ICT, artificial intelligence, robotics, 3D manufacturing and embedded technologies have irrevocably changed the nature of security risks. Increased density and spread of internet connectivity has made us prove to sophisticated cyber-attacks particularly in sensitive areas from hostile elements.

India is also in the middle of a war between both crushing economic interests as well as interests motivated by civilizational superiority.

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh acknowledged the challenges posed by the shift in global strategic focus towards the Asia-Pacific region, in his address to the combined commandos conference on November 22, 2013.

As an emerging economic power with huge domestic market security threat to our industrial infrastructure and coastal area remains high.

Terrorism and naxalism continues to make the country vulnerable to sabotage and attacks. The fact of the Indian neighbourhood being surrounded by states which are non-functional and/or which are bearers of organisations inimical to the interests of India like Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal whether they be Islamists or Maoists is known by all.

The fact that even small Bangladesh or even smaller Maldives don't care much for India is apparent to all. The Sri Lankan government as well as the government of Myanmar are increasing interaction with powers which are opposed to India like China.

On its northern borders India of course is confronted by China which is constructing heavy infrastructure on its borders thereby threatening the security of India while also damming rivers which flow into India thereby endangering the water resources of the country having a clear knock-on effect on agriculture which is the mainstay of the Indian economy.
It is also seemingly strange that the present government is not paying heed to the forces of Maoism and Islamism which are running rampant across the country. Needless to say that both are influenced by disruptive ideologies and are backed by foreign countries which are adverse to the interests of India.

It is also strange that even though it is clearly acknowledged that China is the major threat to Indian security including its continuing illegal occupation of Aksai Chin area of our country in north and unremitting threat over parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Chinese companies are being given the high security projects involving crucial sections of the Indian infrastructure throughout the country. Indian security and well-being is being compromised apparently.

Dependence for our defence requirements on imports almost completely, including overdependence on information & telecommunication equipments manufactured abroad that runs a high risk of implanted malicious codes being used for both spying as well as disruption of security network is another dimension that poses a grave danger to the country particularly in a scenario where a ‘two-front’ along with a simultaneous internal subversion is being seen as an almost certain.

At the other end of the spectrum the Indian government is not paying heed to the worldwide concern of American Internet companies acting on the half of the United States of America security agencies to spy on people in this country. The fact that they are the company which is making the “Aadhar” unique identity document which includes or attempts to include every small detail of every Indian is owned partially by corporate interests close to the American security establishment is a matter of grave concern. However the present government is in no mood to heed warnings or to be concerned about the security of India being so obsessed in covering up for itself and its various scams.

The internal security of India and the external security of India is clearly in danger in the hands of the present government.

The Swadeshi Jagran Manch therefore calls upon the government of India to shed its soft-state approach and take bold steps like:

1. Forth with stop allowing foreign companies particularly from china from bidding for defence related projects.

2. Take all the necessary steps to indigenise defence production and end the overdependence on imports.

3. Fully implement the preferential market access to domestic telecom equipment manufacturing companies to avoid security risks involved.

4. Take all required steps needed to prepare security forces in every respect for a possible two-front armed confrontation and a simultaneous internal subversion.

National Council of SJM in Indore (Madhya Pradesh)

27, 28 April 2013

Statement of Swadeshi Jagran Manch, on the occasion of National Council Meeting on the issue of recent judgement of Supreme Court on patents and affordable medicines

The Swadeshi Jagran Manch while acknowledging the complete vindication of its stand regarding Section 3 (d) of the Indian Patents Act, and the proviso therein in the Novartis case and while being glad that the Hon’ble Supreme Court has upheld it’s stand that the Novartis claim to the protection of Glivec an essential drug for the treatment of cancer needs to be rejected, is however disconcerted by the Supreme Court not conclusively deciding on the issue of the need to interpret Section 3 (d) by reading the provision for allowing the production of generic variations of drugs whose patent period have expired but for whom the multinational patent owner wants to maximise its profit by extending the patent protection period by adding qualities which do not enhance the efficacy of the drug.

However the Hon’ble Supreme Court has lost the opportunity to decide the matter once and for all by deciding the case on facts. The SJM recognises that there may be further mischief by multinational pharmaceutical companies and states that it is important that all forces which are keen to ensure that medicine in the country is kept at affordable prices continue the battle and be vigilant about developments in the future.

For a country like India, expensive western style health care is not sustainable. It is a country where the majority of the people cannot afford to have access to expensive medicine and life saving drugs which are so costly that it is out of the reach of the common man. It is essential that life saving drugs and other medicine be made available to the middle class and the poor at a price at which they can afford. Therefore it is important that generic drugs be made widely available in the market. The attempt of Multi National Pharmaceutical Industries attempt to extend patents of its “block buster” drugs by attempting to evergreen the drugs in the name of incremental research has to be fought both politically and legally and on all forums. Needless to say that the war is not over with the present Novartis judgment, it is neither the beginning of the end of the war, it is in many ways the end of the beginning. There is a long way to go.

SJM therefore also welcomes the Supreme Court initiative to ensure that the government notifies drugs which are essential and therefore would fall outside the patent pricing regime. The SJM deprecates the attempt of the drug companies to suggest that such pricing of essential drugs be made on market pricing basis, when such an interpretation would be inherently against the spirit of the TRIPPS exception for essential drugs, besides being against the right to life enshrined under our Constitution as expounded by the Hon’ble Supreme Court. SJM says that it will commence it’s struggle against the arbitrary market based pricing methodology which is being suggested by the government at the behest of multinational pharmaceutical companies, because it would result in the benefits of the people being deprived of the right to have essential, affordable medicinal drugs as part of their right to life.

10th National Convention of SJM in Jalandhar

As you might know that the 10th National Convention of the Swadeshi Jagaran Manch was held in the historic Doaba College, Jalandhar (Punjab) on 2nd 3rd and 4th October 2010. In total 770 karyakartas hailing from 149 districts of the country participated in it. Three resolutions were passed during the Convention. First was on the issue of agriculture titled “Save Farming Save Country”, second was on FDI in Retail issue, & third on the issue of Price Rise. All the three are available on net on our website www.swadeshionline.in and if there is any difficulty we can send you by email as well. We should keep in mind the comments of Sh. Arun Ojha at the concluding session of the convention that when Karyakartas were boarding their trains, there was alarm, and uncertainty in the atmosphere due to Ayodya verdict and assumed consequent fall outs. He appreciated that everybody proceeded fearlessly on their way to Jalandhar. In all there were 13 sessions in the three days and the climax point was the public meeting, which Sh. Ojha ji declared as really inspiring and a morale booster. The number of youth and their enthusiasm was marvelous. Content-wise too, the convention was highly appreciated. Let us succinctly have a bird’s eye view of the 13 sessions. Other than this, let us also know that on 1st Oct in the morning a meeting of the Resolution Committee and Ayojan Samiti, and in afternoon meeting of Rashtaryia Parishad was held as per schedule.

Inaugural Session
Sh. Krishan Sharma, the organizer of the Convention welcomed all. A renowned environmentalist and a saintly figure of Punjab Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal inaugurated the Convention, and General Secretary of Reception Commiitee, Sh. Sharad Aggarwal delivered the welcome note. Saint Balbirsingh lamented that in Punjab where selling of milk was considered a sin, now water is sold in packaged bottles, and also threw light on the sad plight of farmers by saying that potato is purchased at the rate of Rs. 2 per KG from the farmers and is sold at Rs. 12 in the market. He also gave a brief picture of reviving and cleaning of a holy river, Kali Bei, and the way people co-operated in this good cause once the initiative was taken by him. Let us remind that former President APJ Abdul Kalam personally visited this project and appreciated it whole-heartedly. Sh. Arun Ojha in his inaugural address recounted the events of the previous year just like BT Brinjal, Copenhegan, and Geneva meeting of WTO and presented the annual report before the House. He quoted Arvind Ghosh ‘India is facing a flood of so-called modern thinking, and an onslaught on its culture by a mighty civilization which is diametrically opposed to its indigenous thinking and we have to find a solution to it.’

Special Reports
The following Seven special reports of agitations run or sponsored by local SJM units were also presented in brief. The agitation and Yatra by SJM AP regarding the miserable condition of weavers in Maidak district and the ensuing relief provided by different agencies. Second was regarding Anti-Vedanta University Agitation launched by SJM Odisha and the third was again by SJM Odisha regarding Rengali river where water was not given to a particular area. The fourth was West Bengal SJM standing by the side of potato growing farmers in some districts. A front with the name of Aloo Chasi Manch was formed to organize this agitation. Fifth, Ajay Patki ji described the agitation against BT Brinjal in Nagpur. The sixth report was from Himachal Pradesh and an agitation sponsored by SJM was going on against formation of SEZ in Gagret area of Una district. Seventh was described by Sh. Ashwani Mahajan that Anti-APMC ACT programmes were held in Delhi and Jabalpur, wherein large number of traders participated. Similarly Five special organizational reports were also presented. Sh. Nambi ji described the special efforts being done to popularize the Indian Business Model and Indian Economics being prepared by Sh. Gurumurthy and delivered in lecture form in various Managements Institutes of Tamil Nadu. He told that one University has adopted this syllabus too. Sh. Mukul Ranjan described the special efforts done to spread the special program: Let us go the villages. Jitender Mahajan described the success-story of subscription campaign for enrolling 3000 members of Swadeshi Patrika in Delhi.Smt. Renu Puranik described the Women cell’s All India conference in Delhi. Sh. Davendera Vishwakarma told about the special efforts for mobilizing youth in Swadeshi programmes. Fifth special description was by Rajesh Upadhyaye regarding forming active village-wise units of SJM in all the villages of three blocks of Godda district of Jharkhand. Two other organizations also described the efforts being taken to popularize Swadeshi movement. Sh. Lakshmi Narayan Bhalla of Vidya Bharti narrated that Swadeshi Convenors are being appointed at the Sankul level and some others similar decisions which were taken in 6-7 June 2010 in Bhopal. Similarly Sh. Jitendra Gupta apprised of Laghu Udyag Bharti’s efforts in this regard.

Special session on FDI in Retail
Besides adopting a Resolution to this effect a special session was held to delve deep into this issue of FDI in retail and arrival of giant MNC retail groups like Wal-Mart. Sh. Ashwani Mahajan and Prof. Kumaraswami described in detail the different aspects of this new onslaught on Indian retailer and the resultant monopoly of organized retailers. Sh. Ashwani ji criticized the so-called survey report presented by ICRIER on the basis of which the FDI policy is framed as a sham report, A country-wide agitation is needed to pressurize the government, they concluded.

Present Economic Scenario presentation by Sh. Bhagwati Prakash Sharma
Explaining the paradoxical situation due to economic globalization, on the one hand there is glittering development and on the other there is a dismal inequality, poverty and hunger. Blatant example is that even after 19 years of globalization, there has come the need to create an artificial employment in the form of NREGA like 84 schemes. Our government is not only shirking away from its responsibilities in the field of essential services as education, health, roads and water management, in the name of PPP i.e. Public Private Partnership. Upto 1987-88 the government used to spend almost 4 per cent on defence, which now has gone down to 2.5% whereas the threat from countries like China and Pak is on the increase. The share of agriculture and industry in GDP has fallen to 38%. Regarding the other source of 62% of GDP comprising services, IT and allied sectors, sinister designs are on anvil to increase the quota of FDI in them, especially in Insurance, education and retail sectors! There is emerging a huge market amounting to $4.8 trillion (Rs. 240 lakh crore) in the name of privatization of education throughout the world, a new probable source of governmental corruption. Strange, these MNCs are ready to garner Rs. two lakh crores from India in the field of nuclear energy, but when any tragedy of Chernobyl-type takes place, these are getting away with providing compensation to the tune of Rs.1500 crores merely. Refering to a recent bill passed in America, he said, the developed countries– which are resorting to Swadeshi to save the interests of their own countries, but simultaneously are singing in praise of globalization just to exploit the economic resources of the developing and underdeveloped countries.

An Alternate Business Model – S. Gurumurthy
When everybody was praising the liberalization in 1991, SJM advised even then that we should watch patiently to see the failure of this America model, and now it is being proved correct. This American model is not only unviable for the world, it is not suitable for American itself. There are 20 crore people who can drive cars, but there are 26 crore sturdy cars in America sufficient for the next 10 years but even then they are producing new cars just to create employment. To allure people into purchasing new cars $5000 is provided free, for anyone who purchases a new car, and banks will give a loan of $9,000 ! 22 crore population has 120 crores credit cards and they have taken loans to the tune of $2.7 trillion (Rs. 135 lakh croress), which amounts to Rs. 6 lakh loan on everybody). Once America which was the biggest lender at one time, is the biggest borrower from the world at present. Contrary to our indigenous model, they have privatized the governmental works and nationalized he family affairs. He averred that this model is impractical, unnatural and unsustainable. In India, in the total seven lakh villages and only 12,404 police stations, and 37% of our GDP accrues from family savings. He quoted Goldman Sachs report of Sept 2009 that India needs a huge amount of $1.7 trillion (85 lakh crores of Rupees) to create the needed infrastructure, but for it there is no need bring in foreign money. Our internal savings of the society are sufficient for it. He lauded the Ludhiana and Batala model of community based industrial clusters and the Gurudwara’s community kitchen, langar tradition.

Special Session on Save Agriculture, SAVE COUNTRY
Dr. Sharad Nimbalkar, former VC of Punjabrao Agriculture University, Maharashtra, gave a brain-storming speech on this topic. He emphasized that agriculture is the sole basis of people residing in our 6 lakh 40 thousand villages, and though 50% population depends directly, yet in total 85% depend indirectly on agriculture. Though total agricultural production has voluminously increased from 52 to2. 27 lakh tones, but the deteriorating condition of farmers has not improved. Strangely enough, the annual budgetary share on agriculture which was upto 32%in the first Five year has receded to a mere 3.5% at present! The result, he emphasized was visible in the form of 2 lakh farmers resorting to suicide and tally is increasing every day. He thundered that in our country, despites availability of 16 lakh 45 thousand sq fts of water - 60 to 70% of our land is still without irrigation. He criticized that while falsely eulogizing the increase in production due to BT cotton, the contribution of Sardar Sarovar Dam and efforts done by Cotton Board are conveniently forgotten! The continuous efforts done by 44 Agricultural Universities in improving and developing the indigenous varieties of seeds are ignored and suddenly Bt Brinjal seed is brought to the fore. Where is the scope of brinjal except in a few countries in the world, and why such a euphoria about bringing BT technology for brinjal, he questioned. He also decried the draconian law in the name of BRAI Bill (Biodiversity Regulatory Authority of India). Provisions are on the anvil in this Bill to penalize up to Rs. Two lakh along with an imprisonment of 6 months if one criticizes without proper data these new GM techniques. It is certainly an onslaught on the liberty of speech, he urged. One who holds a control on seed will take control of bread, and one who commands control over bread, will ultimately get control over the country, he warned. The designs of MNCs in popularizing of Bt Brinjal and Cotton and other Genetically Modified seeds should be viewed in this light, he emphasised. Sh. Yoganand Kale urged the audience to start a vigorous SAVE FARMING – SAVE COUNTRY campaign, while delivering his presidential remarks.

Remembering Dr. Bokare
To provide sufficient information about the founder convenor of SJM, Dr. MG Bokare’s younger brother Sh. Diwakar Bokare was specially invited to this Sabha for a talk esp. on this subject. ShDiwakar ji told that while teaching at Nagpur University he was a staunch supporter of Marxism. After an indepth study the Indian scriptures, and especially Vedas for a period stretching to 15 years, he found lacunae in Marxist ideology and slowly got dischanted with it. At this juncture he came in contact with Thengadi ji, and then totally shifted to this side. Thengadiji persuaded him to give these ideas a written shape and the book HINDU ECONOMICS was an outcome of this. What the world is witnessing at present as dilapidation of capitalist castle has been foreseen and written just 20 years ago by Dr. Bokare. Sh. Yoganand Kale also related an episode from life of Dr. Bokare that once he went to Comrade Dange, a prominent Marxist of that time to discuss some problems of farmers. Comrade Dange answered that farmers being owners, so Marxism has nothing to do with their problems. This totally frustrated Dr. Bokare and he felt disillusioned with this concept of Marxism. He recalled how in a small meeting of prominent personalities in Resham Bhagh, Nagpur in 1991 Swadeshi Jagaran Manch was founded and Thengadi ji announced the name of Dr. MG Bokare as the founder convenor. He recalled the prophetic words of Sh. Thengadi ji pronounced at that time that though nobody is going to listen to us today, but due to persistent efforts of a CREATIVE MINORITY a new social model will emerge, and all will applaud it. People have started listening to us, he asserted.

Special Report on China tour by Sh. Muralidhar Rao ji
He shared his experiences of his recent visit to China on a tour where representatives of different political parties participated in July this year. China claims to have accomplished successfully the biggest poverty eradication program of the world, but poverty reduction is not commensurate with the growth in GDP, he opined. The political leadership there is rather mature and reticent, and India is not a talking point in public. Their social structure is family based, but people at large are not so politically aware. The leadership of the world is shifting of course from West to East, and India’s plus points, i.e. our public awareness, better intellectual capability and ability to have a dialogue in English with world, will definitely give us an edge over China, he asserted.
