Publication Ethics

Ethical standards and guidelines for authors, reviewers, and editors

COPE Guidelines

Swadeshi Monograph follows the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All parties involved in the publication process — authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher — are expected to uphold the highest ethical standards.

We are committed to ensuring the integrity of the scholarly record and maintaining public trust in published research.

Plagiarism Policy

All submitted manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using standard detection tools. The journal has a zero-tolerance policy towards plagiarism.

  • Manuscripts with more than 15% similarity (excluding references and quotations) will be returned to authors for revision.
  • Direct plagiarism or fabrication of data will result in immediate rejection.
  • If plagiarism is detected after publication, the article will be retracted with a public notice.
  • Authors found guilty of serious misconduct may be barred from future submissions.
Authorship Criteria

Authorship should be based on the following criteria (aligned with ICMJE recommendations):

  • Substantial contribution to the conception, design, data acquisition, or analysis of the work.
  • Drafting or revising the manuscript critically for important intellectual content.
  • Final approval of the version to be published.
  • Accountability for all aspects of the work, ensuring accuracy and integrity.

All listed authors must meet all four criteria. Contributors who do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgment section.

Conflicts of Interest

Authors are required to disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence or bias their work. This includes:

  • Funding sources and grants
  • Employment or consultancy relationships
  • Stock ownership or patent applications
  • Personal relationships with individuals involved in the review process

Editors and reviewers must also declare any conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from decisions where a conflict exists.

Editorial Responsibilities

Editors are responsible for:

  • Making fair and unbiased publication decisions based solely on academic merit.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of submitted manuscripts.
  • Acting promptly on ethical complaints and investigating suspected misconduct.
  • Publishing corrections, clarifications, or retractions when needed.
